Director – Investment Operations Transformation

Opportunity:

This person will be directly responsible for influencing all aspects of Olmstead’s Operational Agility focus. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record in Investment Operations Consulting, providing cost-effective, high quality, customer-centric solutions and ongoing trusted advisory relationships with C-level executives including CIOs, COOs and CTOs. This person will be recognized for their ability to leverage, establish, and deepen executive relationships and drive consulting opportunities utilizing their professional network, previous client impact, and domain expertise in front-to-back office functions for the asset management industry. This person must be a self-starter who drives engagements from inception to successful conclusion with an emphasis on the following types of initiatives:

  • Outsourcing Selection / Implementation or Conversion
  • Technology Selection and Implementation
  • Operating Model Development / Redesign
  • Oversight Model Development
  • Testing Strategy (QA, UAT, Model Office)
  • M&A analysis
  • Data Analysis, Readiness or Governance

Responsibilities:

  • Disciplined program / project manager with experience serving in a leadership capacity over large scale, complex asset management initiatives
  • Highly skilled presenter and communicator to C-suite
  • Ability to scope, plan, and define approach for execution of our engagements
  • Serve as the lead program manager on our engagements responsible for all day-to-day execution with clients
  • Build senior level advisory relationships with existing and potential clients; convert relationships with executives into long-term consulting relationships that extend across multiple assignments
  • Play a lead role in brand building, messaging, thought leadership and IP creation by authoring white papers, blogs, social media, presenting at industry conferences
  • Help recruit, develop, and retain consulting professionals to support the firm’s ambitious growth targets 

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of Asset Management experience working across Front / Middle / Back Office
  • Comprehensive understanding of key operational functions: (Trade Execution, Trade Management Support, Portfolio Analytics, Portfolio Accounting, Fund Accounting, Financial Reporting, Compliance, Performance, Client Reporting, and Custody)
  • Experience leading strategic initiatives within the asset management industry
  • Working knowledge of leading technology platforms supporting the front/middle/back office (e.g., OMS, Portfolio Accounting, Fund Administration, Performance, Client Reporting, etc)
  • Experience working with leading middle/back office service provider solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and pursue business development opportunities for consulting, serving as a trusted advisor and interface with executive level clients
  • Preferred industry prominence and referenceable contributions to thought leadership, publications, white papers and industry conferences
  • Proven ability to lead and operate successfully in a collaborative organizational structure
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft suite – MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
  • MBA or Master’s degree strongly preferred; Bachelor’s degree required
