Scott Knous Appointed Olmstead Associate's Data Management Leader

Capitalizing on more than 23 years of success delivering consulting services to the global investment management industry, Olmstead furthers its commitment to being the data-centric consulting firm to the buy side.

January 12, 2017 - BOSTON, MA.   Olmstead Associates, a leading provider of strategic and advisory consulting services to the global investment management industry, announced today that Scott Knous has joined the firm as Managing Director, leading the firm’s Data Management Advisory Solutions reporting to Rob Hegarty, President. Scott is responsible for managing all aspects of Data Management including strategy, consulting delivery, and client management. He joins an already robust team to help drive quality, growth and expansion across Olmstead’s advisory, execution, and professional development businesses.

“With demand for our data management consulting services increasing significantly, combined with Olmstead’s established practice of ensuring that data is a central consideration in our clients’ initiatives, Scott joins the Olmstead management team at the perfect time,” said Rob Hegarty, President. “He brings a unique combination of deep practical and consultative experience in data and the asset management industry, a successful track record, and exceptional thought leadership in the areas of enterprise data strategy, data governance, and data management technologies. We are extremely excited to have Scott join our team,” Hegarty explained.

Scott brings over 30 years of experience building and/or managing data management, analytics and technology solutions for global financial firms. He has served in leadership roles at buy side firms, consulting firms, data providers, and technology solution providers, affording him a unique perspective that he can pass along to clients. Prior to joining Olmstead, Scott was most recently the Data Management Practice Lead at InvestTech Systems Consulting, where he led the firm’s Data Management consulting delivery service.  Previously, he served as Director, Data Management and Control at Liberty Mutual Investments, responsible for data quality operations, data governance and business ownership for key data management systems. Prior to Liberty, he was a Director in PwC’s Asset Management Advisory practice, where he led multiple complex data, technology and regulatory engagements for some of the world’s largest asset managers. Before that Scott was at Omgeo, LLC where he architected and executed a business and technology transformation of the industry’s largest Settlement Instructions data solution, ALERT, subsequently serving as head of product management for Omgeo’s full suite of solutions. Earlier in his career, Scott played a lead role in the creation, launch and portfolio management of two fund of funds.

“I am honored to be part of a firm with such a solid reputation for providing world class consulting to the buy side. Olmstead’s data centric approach to delivering front to back office consulting services is truly unique in our industry and a big differentiator,” said Knous. “Whether a client comes to Olmstead for help selecting and implementing a new client reporting system, employing a data management strategy, or developing a future state business or IT architecture, Olmstead looks through a data lens to ensure the end result is increased value of data and greater overall project success. Olmstead doesn’t believe in data management for data management’s sake, “ Knous said. This is a critical time for Investment Management firms to optimize the management, delivery and reporting of their enterprise data given current industry factors such as increasing demand for passive investment product, increased competition, new regulations, rapid advances in automated technologies, and cost (fee) pressures. Olmstead’s data centric, business impact focused approach helps its clients address these external factors.
