We are helping a large investment management firm with finding a strong Data Analyst or Architect with data analysis skills that is an expert in investment management data and processes.  Primary focus is on back office data, but working knowledge of front office data needed as well.  The ideal candidate would know data flows from front office to middle/back office at a detailed level.
 
Our client is building a data management environment that moves investment management data from source systems to a staging area (ODS) to a data warehouse. We need someone that can drive the conceptual and logical models for the warehouse, and really dig into the source systems to map the data from the source systems to the staging area and then to the warehouse. These systems include:  Trading , Securities accounting, General Ledger, Forecasting, Cash / Custody.

Skills and experience needed:
-10+ years data analysis experience in investments
-Front, middle and back office data flow expertise
-Conceptual and logical data modeling and mapping experience
 
The Eagle "interface" analyst has an understanding of the investment knowledge, and is able to determine concrete deliverables based on a review of business processes or requirements. This candidate should have strong Eagle expertise as the bulk of these requirements (or preliminarily defined interfaces to be vetted out via business process review) will be solutioned via the Eagle platform. The candidate should have a track record of providing solutions and have implementation experience. The candidate should be introduced to, and then understand the various work streams within SATP (specifically, business process analysis) and/or IDO, and be able to derive and then own specific tasks for delivery of Eagle solutions (some may be interfaces). Specific skills or experience should include the following:

  • demonstrated ability or experience for delivery
  • knowledge of investment/insurance products
  • specific knowledge about Eagle suite of products (STAR reference information, trading, corporate actions, reporting, panels), PACE reporting
  • specific knowledge on Eagle processes such as "Star to Pace", and "rollback/replay"
  • specific knowledge on Eagle importing options such as message center or plain uploaders
  • working understanding of file transfers, file layouts, and functional specifications related to interface development
  • understanding of the development life cycle in a functional way
Looking for an investment operations business analyst that can assist with operational and regulatory reporting needs, communicate with and understand potentially complex business requirements from business end users. The ideal candidate will have strong investment operations experience and direct experience working with Eagle, including a working knowledge of STAR standard reporting and/or PACE reporting.

Skills and experience needed:
  • 3-5 years experience as a Business Analyst
  • Experience with core Eagle STAR standard reporting and/or PACE reporting capabilities is preferred.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and document functional specifications.
  • Fundamental working knowledge of investment operations  processes
  • Ability to participate in communications regarding test planning process and participate in test case development to drive end user sign off.
  • Strong verbal and written skills, particularly in communicating with experienced investment operations and accounting business users
Our large asset management client is looking for a securities reference data analyst to help with the integration of their Enterprise Data Management (EDM) solution. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem solving and project management skills, solid technical abilities, and several years of experience working with security reference, derived, fundamental, or analytic data. This individual must be adept in both a team and individual contributor role.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide business analysis for firm-wide data projects and enhancements to existing client applications
  • Define and execute Quality Assurance and User Acceptance tests.
  • Project management responsibilities include defining requirements, participating in solution creation, and integration into business processes
  • Diagnose data exceptions and recommend controls to ensure data accuracy
  • Research questions posed by client data users
Skills and Experience needed:
  • Experience with security data (reference, derived, fundamental, and analytic data) and workflows associated with maintaining the data
  • Strongly Preferred: Experience with solutions for managing reference data (e.g. Golden Source, MarkitEDM (fka:Cadis), Eagle Pace, Asset Control). Prior experience working on a reference data project implementation strongly preferred.
  • Ability to create complex queries in order to analyze data and troubleshoot issues including advanced SQL skills.
  • Proven relationships with leading data vendors (e.g. Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, Markit, IDC)
  • Ability to create and execute test cases which exercise the full functionality and scope of the initiative
  • Demonstrated ability to combine patience, determination, and persistence to troubleshoot issues
  • Self-starting, self-motivated team player who can participate in driving this project forward.
We are assisting a large custodial client who is in the process of transforming its middle and back office.  There are multiple positions available to support this client through this process.  Candidates with strong fund accounting experience on the business or technology side are ideal candidates.

  • Experience with fund accounting and or significant experience with application integration of systems throughout the middle and back office of traditional asset management firms
  • Prior custodial experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience documenting requirements and workflows

Our large financial services client is looking for help supporting its regulatory business.  Multiple roles are required to support this initiative.  The ideal candidate(s) will experience in any, or a combination, of the following: Operations, Front Office, Regulatory, Audit and/or Treasury work at Custody Banks or global Financial Institutions, and the ability to understand and work in this developing regulatory area. The role includes a broad range of activities  and  esponsibility for dedicated elements working with the banks legal, operations, finance and general management teams.   These positions will collaborate with business units to define, capture and document data requirements for global reporting.

 We are assisting a large Financial Service Client to find a Business Analyst with a strong Financial services background with operational expertise in portfolio accounting and post-trade processing.  We are looking for a self-starter who can jump into a project connecting BBH Infomediary to various platforms including; Deal Allocation (trades), Star (corporate actions), Pace (holdings and custody holdings).

  • Savvy in operational impacts of running an operational book of record and the implications of data feeds and operations to create a complete view of a portfolio that can reconcile to external and internal parties.

We are assisting our large financial services client with finding a strong Data Quality Control/ Profiling Analyst who will work under the direction of the Director of Data Management & Control in support of a new Quality Control function.   The QC Profiling role has three main responsibilities as outlined below: (The relative time weighting of each is in parenthesis)
 
1) Data quality analysis/profiling (60%)
-assess root causes of high priority data issues
2) Data quality measurement (30%)
-establish metrics to baseline data quality and track/report quality improvements
3) Data Standards and Governance (10%)
-based on findings from data profiling and quality metrics, communicate to the Data Governance Committee any new requirements for data standards and controls
 
The Analyst will have a variety of roles and responsibilities including key activities such as; 
Data quality ranking by data field;
Security Master database profile report describing the most prevalent quality compromises and their root causes;
Data remediation plan based on Security Master database profile and data quality ranking
Produce current state data process workflows and throughout the lifecycle for Security Master from origination through storage;
Produce Security Master data systems mapping documentation from sources to end consumer applications;
Support the Data Integrity Team, the Data Management Program, and the Data Governance Specialist  by recommending specific resources/expertise necessary to address data remediation on a daily basis;
Provide data validation and rule requirements to the MarkIT EDM Business Analysts so tooling can be built and maintained for scalable and flexible profiling and data quality monitoring/metrics reporting;
Evaluate leading practice data controls versus current state and make recommendations as to enhancements;

Background/Experience/Skills
The ideal candidate is obsessed with “data about data” and be very inquisitive, and proactive. Experience in an investment management operational role as a reference data or security; master analyst or similar is required;
Keen understanding of Security Master and reference maintenance for US domestic and international fixed income securities is required;
5+ years data analyst experience performing data profiling, data mapping, data validation, data migration/conversion, and/or ‘source to consumption’ data analysis;
The ability to extract data via SQL queries is a big plus;
Ability to reverse engineer data denigration from use to source;
Experience working with systems such as SS&C’s CAMRA, BlackRock’s Aladdin, MarkIT EDM and Microsoft MDS is considered a plus

Our client requires additional expertise to supplement its existing team.  The ideal Project / Implementation manager will have strong project management expertise and proven success implementing performance measurement and or risk applications.

We are helping a large financial services firm implement a new performance measurement and attribution system.  Our client requires additional expertise to supplement its existing team. The business systems integration consultant will be responsible for supporting data analysis, mapping and integration between core accounting applications and the performance measurement and attribution solution.  The ideal candidate will have strong data analysis skills, strong SQL skills and proven experience integrating accounting data with performance or risk applications for institutional asset management firms.

We are currently assisting the asset management division of a large mutual life insurance company to find a Reporting Manager that will be managing the business intelligence around their accounting business. The Reporting Manager will be responsible for the development and maintenance of reporting and other data provisioning involving investment accounting and related investment data.  This is a newly created position supporting an investment data management program as well as the ongoing requirements of client groups consuming this data. Experience with Cognos is highly preferred.

 Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Manage a small team consisting of onshore and offshore resources.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for investment data provisioning and iterative reporting.  Be the “face” for data consumers.
  • Develop and enforce best practice standards to govern data delivery to a wide variety of data consumers.
  • Work with data consumers, architects and vendors to determine and execute optimal data distribution strategies including selecting from available report, query and data mart solutions and participating in selection of additional tools as needed.
  • Partner with Portfolio Reporting and Analysis Group to ensure appropriate level of support to data consumers.

We are assisting a large Financial Services client,  within their Retirement Services Division. They are looking for a strong technical Financial Systems Data Analyst to join a team to support data analysis and mapping from their warehouse to their general ledger.
 
Required Skills / Experience
  • 5+ years data analysis experience in investments or financials/accounting domains 
  • Ability to write detailed data interface specifications by analyzing business requirements, vendor specifications and available data models 
  • Strong technical skills to navigate a very complex database
  • Very strong communcation and facilitation skills for review sessions and table top walkthroughs 
 
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Oracle, SAP or related accounting software / ERP systems
  • Prior experience working on large complex migrations
  • Experience supporting interface specifications handoffs for incoming and outgoing interfaces and  with data defect triage
  • Experience with Informatica, Teradata, ERWIN and LDM/PDM
